Corofin Dramatic Society is proud to announce that our production of Wit by Margaret Edson has qualified for the All-Ireland Amateur Drama Finals in Athlone, following a strong and consistent run across eight festivals on the circuit.
Wit, a Pulitzer Prize-winning play, tells the story of Dr. Vivian Bearing, a renowned academic facing stage four ovarian cancer. Across an intense eight-week treatment, the play blends sharp humour with deep emotional insight, charting Vivian’s journey from intellectual detachment to human vulnerability. At its heart is a powerful performance from Maura Clancy, supported by a committed and talented ensemble cast and crew.
Our festival journey brought us to Ballinamore, Roscommon, Doonbeg, Charleville, Claremorris, Claregalway, Scarriff, and Glenamaddy. Along the way, the production received widespread recognition from adjudicators, audiences, and fellow groups.
Highlights from the circuit include:
- 🏆 2 First Place wins (Charleville, Claremorris)
- 🥈 4 Second Place finishes (Roscommon, Doonbeg, Scarriff, Glenamaddy)
- 🎉 Multiple major awards across acting, direction, and technical categories
