Founded in 1950, Corofin Dramatic Society has competed regularly on the three-act and one-act festivals, picking up numerous acting, production, set design awards down through the years.
We qualified for the one-act confined All-Ireland finals in 1990 and 1991, and were crowned All-Ireland champions of the circuit in 1993 with Three's a Crowd, a play written and directed by one of our own members, Patrica Shannon.
Our production of Philadelphia Here I Come by Brian Friel qualified for the three-act All Ireland in 1985, while drama season 2007/08 saw us take the coveted All Ireland trophy at the full-length Confined Drama Finals in Strabane, Co. Tyrone for our production of The Beauty Queen of Leenane by Martin McDonagh.
In 2011 Corofin Dramatic Society won the one-act confined All-Ireland in 2011 with What's for Pudding by David Tristram, produced by Eileen Lahiffe.
We have qualified for the RTÉ All-Ireland finals in Athlone on three occasions, the third one being last year 2015 with The 39 Steps by John Buchan, By the Bog of Cats in 2013 and placing 3rd in Athlone with The Subject was Roses in 2012.
